Bluegrass group coming to Grove
A top-ranked acoustic mandolin player is bringing his band to Spruce Grove next week.
John Reischman and the Jaybirds, a bluegrass quintet based out of Vancouver, are returning to Horizon Stage next Saturday, and for frontman Reischman, it’s about time the band came back.
“We’ve played the venue a few times so I hope we have a few fans by now to come back and see us play,” he said. “We’ll be playing a lot of songs of our new record so it’s going to be fun.”
John Reischman and the Jaybirds, who have been nominated for a pair of Junos over their career, may sound predominantly like a solo musical venture for Reischman but he says if you attend one of their shows, you’ll find out that’s not the case.
“It’s important for us that every band member is featured a little bit,” he said. “The Jaybirds are incredibly talented so why not showcase that?”
Reischman got together with the Jaybirds after making a solo album and wanting a more full sound for his live shows.
