What’s Going On?

Based on the novel by Sebastian Faulks , BIRDSONG tells the story of Stephen Wraysford, which flashes back between his time in Northern France in 1910 and the trenches of World War I on the Western Front in 1916.

In 1910, Stephen is staying with the well-to-do Azaire family and quickly becomes completely enamored with Isabelle. They begin a passionate affair, but things don’t work out. While serving on the front lines of World War I, Stephen remembers his affair and connects with Jack, who helps him through the war and to work through his past relationship.

Eddie Redmayne (MY WEEK WITH MARILYN), and Clémence Poésy (HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS), star and Matthew Goode (A SINGLE MAN), Richard Madden (GAME OF THRONES) and Joseph Mawle (GAME OF THRONES) show up in bigger roles in the second episode.
