From the Pulpit: 'Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there'
01.06.11
1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
When we carry our worries, stresses and daily struggles by ourselves it shows that we aren’t trusting God fully with our lives. For when we turn to God for help, He offers to bear the weight of our struggles.
It does take humility to admit our need, even to God sometimes, for we usually want to “do it ourselves.” And when, sometimes God’s help comes through other people, we should be humble enough to receive it with thanks, recognizing that was God’s way of caring for us.
We have a bird feeder by our sun room window that the smaller birds just love to be at – it makes me wonder how they get fed when we don’t feed them, but I am sure that God has taken care of that.
Remember the gospel song whose lyrics go: “Just remember in His Word, how He feeds the little bird, take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.”
Philippians 4:6, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about it, telling God what you need, thanking Him for all He has done.”
