Booming Fox Creek a hunter's dream
Small-town life in the bush. You hop on your sled right at your back door and head out to miles and miles of trails.
Fox Creek is "a paradise for people who are into the outdoors," winter and summer, Fox Creek Mayor Leora MacKinnon says.
Besides trails into the forest, "we have two lakes with great fishing, boating, swimming, ice fishing, kayaking, canoeing and water-skiing. It's outdoor recreation at its best."
The whitetail deer are a sportsman's dream, the moose and elk plentiful.
"Hunters there don't realize they're absolutely spoiled. They have 20 or 22 of the 28 big game animals you can shoot (in North America). In Pennsylvania, we have three," hunter Justin Swanger says by phone from his Pennsylvania home.
He's already counting down the days until his fifth trip to Fox Creek next November.
"It's a special place where you're one with nature. It's completely quiet, and you may see animals move, or you may not, but you're part of something not many people get to do."
