I have tried every setting with no luck. Since most of my pix are by, or on, the water- I tried the beach setting. It's worse. Any suggestions?

The basic problem is that, if you have an exposure problem where the camera is letting more light when it actually needs less. This is because light meters are designed to assume that every image has a wide range of colors and
I entered Central Park on a lovely Saturday morning a couple of weeks ago with my camera and the goal of taking a picture of the tufted titmice I had glimpsed briefly on an earlier visit. After several attempts that resulted in nothing more than gray-and-white blurs in my photos, I noticed a woman who was feeding the birds and had attracted quite a crowd of them.
I took advantage of her generosity and snapped several lovely pictures of the tufted titmice. Thinking that I might employ her strategy in the future, I asked what she was feeding the birds, expecting to hear “birdseed” or maybe “millet.”
She replied brightly, “Organic Valencia peanuts!”
