Iran team to watch in Le Tour

STA. ANA, CAGAYAN, Philippines  – Their reputation precedes them and no doubt, riders from highly touted Tabriz Petrochemical Team (TPT) from Iran will carry giant bull’s eyes on their backs when the 2012 Le Tour de Filipinas presented by Air21 hits the road tomorrow.

TPT is a four-time UCI Asia Tour team champions and one of their bets, Rahim Emami romped off with the overall individual crown in the previous Le Tour. Although Emami will not be around, his absence do not necessarily diminish the TPT delegation’s trademark strong climbing ability and stability even under extreme weather one bit.

“Binabantayan talaga namin ang Iranians dahil malakas sila maski mainit na panahon o malamig (The Iranians are marked men considering their strength do not falter under hot or cold conditions),” said LPGMA-American Vinyl head coach Renato Dolosa.

“Pero hindi basta-basta magpapabaya ang mga Pinoy (But Pinoy riders will not back down),” he added.

First, and less well known, it was one of the first cities to boom in New Zealand, and at one point was the same size as Los Angeles. Better known as limestone to those of us not from New Zealand, Oamaru stone is everywhere in the city. So I decided to head to Victorian New Zealand, also known as Oamaru (or Oamuru as Google Maps calls it) for the weekend. I have been in New Zealand for over four months now. I should also mention that my desk is within a room with about 40-50 other postgraduate thesis students, and although there is a window, my desk faces away from it. Do I need to mention the florescent lights, or is that already part of your mental... So, just like I do at home in the States, I spend all day sitting at a desk staring at a computer screen, though if we are friends on facebook, you may have noticed that I have recently learned about legal resources in paper, but that is a story... In some ways it feels like just yesterday that I arrived, but so much has happened......
