Big, bright and bold are the latest trends when recharging a room with wallpaper.
Just as wallpaper has unlimited possibilities, people should be as expressive as they want to be when using wallpaper to decorate a room, two local experts said.
"People, first, should not be afraid to put their personality into their wallpaper choices," said Jerry Marlin, the owner of Jerry's Walls and Windows. "They're expressing themselves — that's the beauty of wallpaper."
"Have fun. Think outside the box," said interior designer Terri Marcus. "Don't be afraid and try something bold, and something that will really pull your room together."
Marcus said she is seeing a resurgence of designs from the '50s and '60s with large organic patterns, vines and architectural prints.
Marlin said damasks, "old-time designs like your grandmother had," are popular, along with historic-looking Jacobean prints, animal-skin prints and textured paper.
"I'd say almost anything goes right now," Marlin said.
